Nashville-based Bridgestone Americas Inc. said Tuesday that it would move the headquarters of its Bandag commercial retread-tire unit to Nashville from Muscatine, Iowa, by next summer in a move to cut costs and restructure operations.

In conjunction with the announcement, Bandag immediately cut 18 employees in Iowa, the company said.

A total of 32 Bandaq employees, including the senior management team, will relocate to Nashville, Bridgestone said.

But 220 workers will remain in the Iowa location in various other functions, including manufacturing, human resources, manufacturing finance, retread engineering and technical services, and information-technology development, the company said.
